Attested 30/5/40 travelled in Nairobi in road convoy with Field Survey Company attached East Africa Forces. Served in Egypt from 28/6/41. Temporarily attached to 517 Corps Field Survey Company Royal Engineers in November 1941. Returned to Union of SA in 1943. War substantive rank of Sergeant.
