Robert Edwin Boyd was born on Guy Fawke's Day 5th November 1869 at Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire. He served from 5 November 1887 for 12 years, on 22nd March 1900 he was court martialled and received 6 months hard labour for embezzlement.
 
Possibly also was awarded a QSA 1899-1902 aboard H.M.S. Niobe if the same man.
