Thomas H. Davies was born in Cardiff on 15 August 1883, and having emigrated to Canada attested for the Canadian Overseas
Expeditionary Force at Toronto, Ontario, on 19 February 1915. His Occupation was stated to be a 'Building Surveyor". He served with the 20th Battalion, Canadian Infantry during the Great War, wounded in the back, knee and shoulder by shrapnel on 21st April 1916 at No. 1 crater, St. Eloi. He was sunsequently commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in The Royal Artillery in 1917.
